Dear Leader

My response to today’s Daily Prompt – Dear Leader.

If your government (local or national) accomplishes one thing in 2013, what would you like that to be?

The news about the DELHI GANGRAPE of a medical student in a moving bus in the capital of India were everywhere. The heinous crime which left the girl with severe physical and mental scars, also led to the surgery for intestine removal due to her injuries. And just now I read news about another such incident with a 5-year old girl in Karnataka. The child is battling for life in a hospital. I hope the victims recover and find a way to move on in life and the culprits face severe punishment for their unpardonable actions.

So all I can hope for 2013 is that the DEATH PENALTY which has been proposed for rape is enforced immediately or at least in the beginning of 2013. There should be zero-tolerance policy for crimes against women and children.

There should be zero tolerance for such heinous crimes.

I agree but what I’d like to add on this matter is,there should also be change in definition,it should not be something that is gender specific per say.Such heinous crime should not be tolerated against ANY human and should be an unbailable.Sick and tired of hearing all these ghastly news day in and day out. It’s time for change.

Thanks for the pingback. I am not for the death penalty, but I understand your post completely.

I respect your opinion Cheri. Thanks for stopping by. This particular incident may call for such a penalty maybe in the rarest of rare case scenario. The case is not being covered by media now and the law changes are still in proposal stage (not death penalty but something stricter than the current scenario).

    That’s why I understand it 😉

Say what?
